Frequently asked questions

3 days is the sweet spot. You cover the Gaudi highlights, the old town, the beach and still have a full day for a day trip like Montserrat or Sitges, or a deeper dive into food and local neighborhoods like Gracia and Poblenou.

Three strong options: Montserrat day trip (monastery, cable car, hiking), Sitges beach day (35 min by train), or a Barcelona deep dive with Camp Nou stadium tour, a cooking class or a half-day tapas tour plus Montjuic.

Montserrat if you like mountains, monasteries and the boys choir. Sitges if you want a beach day with good food. Montserrat is a full day (8 hours), Sitges is flexible (4-8 hours). In summer Sitges wins, in spring and autumn Montserrat.

If you visit 4+ paid attractions, the Hola Barcelona Travel Card plus individual skip-the-line tickets tends to work out cheaper than a combined pass. The Barcelona City Pass adds value mainly if you want airport transfers and Sagrada Familia bundled.
